Privacy Policy
Effective 28 September 2026 · applies to the Fahrtenbuch Automatisch iOS app and this website
The short version
- Your trips, routes, addresses, odometer readings and notes are stored only on your device. We never receive them.
- There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- To show addresses and road routes, the app uses Apple's map services. To check your Pro subscription, it uses RevenueCat. Neither receives your trip history.
- You can export or delete all your data in the app at any time.
1. Who is responsible
The controller responsible for data processing in connection with the app and this website is:
Cihat Karaboga
Turkey
Email: cihattkaraboga@gmail.com
If you have any questions about privacy, or want to exercise your rights, please write to the email address above.
2. Data the app stores on your device
Fahrtenbuch Automatisch is designed so that your logbook stays with you. The following data is created by the app or entered by you and stored in a local database on your iPhone or iPad. It is not transmitted to us or to any server we operate – we don't operate one for the app.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Location (GPS positions with timestamps) while a trip is being recorded | To record the route and distance of your trips |
| Start and destination (coordinates, place names, addresses) | To show where each trip started and ended in your logbook |
| Trip details you enter: trip type, purpose, business contact, notes and detours | The information a mileage log must contain |
| Vehicles (name, licence plate, odometer, and in France fiscal horsepower and whether the car is electric) | To keep a separate logbook per vehicle and apply the correct rate |
| Odometer readings | To check that trips follow on from each other and match your odometer |
| Saved places (e.g. Home, Office) with a radius | To name your places and suggest commute trips |
| Change history and corrections | To make your logbook tamper-evident |
| Settings such as your tax region and a custom mileage rate | To calculate claimable amounts in the right unit and currency |
Location access. The app asks for permission to use your location “Always”. This is needed so a trip can be recorded while the app is closed, e.g. when a Shortcuts automation starts the recording as your iPhone connects to CarPlay or your car's Bluetooth. Location is only recorded between the start and the end of a trip. You can change or revoke the permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, the app shows reminders to classify your trips. These notifications are created locally on your device; we don't use a push notification service.
Backups. Like other app data, your logbook is included in the backups of your device (iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer) if you have enabled them. These backups are handled by Apple or stored on your computer, under your control and according to your settings.
Since this data never leaves your device through us, we have no access to it and cannot view, restore or delete it for you.
3. Apple map services
To turn GPS positions into addresses, to let you search for places and to calculate the road route between two points (for example to correct a GPS jump or fill in a missing trip), the app uses Apple's map and location services (MapKit and Core Location). For these features, the relevant coordinates or search terms are sent to Apple, which returns the address or route. This happens directly between your device and Apple; we don't receive this data. Your trip history as a whole is not transmitted.
Apple processes this data under its own responsibility. For details, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Purchases and subscriptions (RevenueCat)
Pro subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment; we never receive your name, Apple ID or payment details.
To find out whether you have an active Pro subscription, to show the current offers and to process purchases and restores, the app uses RevenueCat, a service of RevenueCat, Inc., USA. Each time you open the app, it contacts RevenueCat for this purpose. In doing so, RevenueCat processes:
- a random, anonymous app user ID generated by the app (not linked to your name or email address),
- information about your purchases and subscriptions (e.g. product, purchase and expiry dates, price, currency, store country, and Apple's transaction and receipt data),
- technical information (e.g. app version, iOS version, device model, language and region settings) and your IP address, which is necessary for any internet connection.
RevenueCat does not receive your trips, locations, addresses or any other logbook data. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the subscription you purchased) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in reliably verifying purchases). RevenueCat processes data on our behalf, including in the United States; transfers are based on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. More information: RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
5. Exports and sharing
You can create a logbook export (PDF or CSV, Pro) and an export of all your data (JSON and CSV). These files are created on your device. They only leave it if you choose to share them via the iOS share sheet – for example by email to your accountant or by saving them to Files. Where they go is up to you, and the recipient or service you choose is responsible for how they handle the data.
6. What we don't do
- No user accounts, sign-in or email addresses in the app.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs.
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no use of the advertising identifier.
- No selling or sharing of personal data for advertising.
If you have enabled “Share with App Developers” in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may provide us with anonymised crash reports and aggregated usage statistics. Apple is responsible for this processing; we cannot identify you from it.
7. Deleting your data
- Individual trips can be deleted in the trip detail view. Trips in a closed week can't be deleted individually – that is what makes the logbook tamper-evident – but they can be corrected.
- All data can be deleted in the app under Settings → Your data → Delete everything.
- Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. Copies may remain in device backups you created earlier.
Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription. You can manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.
8. This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or third-party embeds, and loads no fonts or scripts from other servers.
When you visit a page, your browser necessarily sends technical information to our web server – in particular your IP address, the requested page, the date and time, and your browser's user agent – so that the page can be delivered. Our web server does not keep access logs. Technical error messages may contain your IP address; they are only used to operate the website securely and are deleted after a short time. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable delivery of the website. The server is operated by us with a hosting provider that processes data on our behalf only to run the server.
Links to the App Store take you to Apple's website, where Apple's privacy policy applies.
9. Contacting us
If you email us, we process your email address, your message and any information you include (such as your device model or iOS version) in order to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We use Gmail, a service of Google, for email. We delete your messages once they are no longer needed to handle your request, unless we are legally required to keep them.
10. Children
The app is intended for adults who keep a mileage log for work or tax purposes. It is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly process children's data.
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing, to data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. If Turkish data protection law (KVKK, Law No. 6698) applies, you have the rights set out in Article 11 KVKK.
Because your logbook data is only stored on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app (export and delete). For data processed by RevenueCat in connection with your purchases, contact us and include your Apple order ID if possible, so we can locate the record.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work – for example the data protection authority of your German federal state or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the app or the law changes – for example if we add new features that process data differently. The current version is always available at mileage.karaboga.dev/privacy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
